The Light She Left Behind

My mom was born in a world so cold, Where girls were weak, that’s what she was told. But her mother loved her with all her heart, Told her to dream, to make a start. She wished to study, to be a CA, Yet they said girls should just obey. Books came briefly, but hope stayed bright, She held her dream through every fight. Marriage came, and life turned hard, Her in-laws hurt, left scars and shards. Through pain she stayed gentle, kind, With love and courage in her mind. She gave me hope, she gave me light, I’ll live her dream, I’ll shine so bright.
